Community Arts Dance Program

Ballet. Hip-Hop. Tap. Jazz. Contemporary. Choreography. Whether you want to deepen your skills, work up a sweat, or just have fun, we have the perfect class for you. Center for Community Arts offers school year and quarterly dance classes for dancers of every level and age from preschool to Adult. All of our dance classes are taught by professional teaching artists.

School Year Dance Intensives

Our school year-long classes for youth are offered in multiple levels of ballet and advanced level tap and jazz. Adults seeking advanced level training  and performance opportunities are invited to audition for our Adult Performance Ensemble.  Scroll down for information about quarterly classes for both youth and adults.

Ballet I  (ages 6-10)

An introduction to the beauty, grace and discipline of ballet. Each class includes a traditional barre and center. Children will enjoy dancing to the magical music from classical ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. Five-year olds with one year experience are eligible to register. Ballet I is also offered as a quarterly class.

Ballet II  (ages 7-11)

Designed for students wanting to continue their ballet training. Class continues with traditional barre and center work, improving technique, working on proper body alignment and an emphasis on vocabulary. Students must have completed a full year in the Ballet I level and be at least 7 years old and in the second grade. A placement class must be taken in Ballet II if a student is transferring from another dance program.

Ballet III  (ages 9-15)

Designed for intermediate level students. Focus is on strengthening technique and advancing ballet curriculum skills. This challenging class meets twice a week and requires a commitment to regular attendance. Students must have completed a full year in Ballet II level and be at least 9 years of age. A placement class must be taken in Ballet II if a student is transferring from another dance program. 

Ballet IV  (ages 9-15)

Designed for advanced level students. Focus is on strengthening technique and advancing ballet curriculum skills with an emphasis on choreography. Meets two times per week. Must attend both days. Students must have completed a full year of Ballet III level and be at least 9 years old. A placement class must be taken in Ballet III if a student is transferring from another dance program.

Tap III  (ages 8-12)

Designed for advanced tap students. Dancers continue to develop advanced tap moves and choreography. Students must take one complete year of Tap II or take a placement class if a student is transferring from another program. Students will perform in each quarter's Performance Jam and in the Spring Performance Festival.

Jazz III  (ages 8-12)

Advanced Jazz students will continue to develop and refine their skills. Students must take one complete year of Jazz II or take a placement class if a student is transferring from another program. Students will perform in each quarter's Performance Jam and in the Spring Performance Festival.

Adult Dance Ensemble  (ages 18+)

Adults with previous dance experience are invited to audition for this performance-focused class. Students will perform in each quarter's Performance Jam, in the Spring Performance Festival.  For more information, please contact the Center for Community Arts office and our staff will put you in touch with the director of the Ensemble.
