Inspiring creativity through the arts

Are you interested in hands on art-making, and ready to get started?  An experienced artist committed to deepening your art practice? Or looking to feed your child’s creativity?  Center for Community Arts is a place for you and your family to explore and discover -- at every stage of life.

We’re proud to be part of Arts and Recreation at the City of Walnut Creek, with more than 50 years of inspiring creativity through the arts.  More than 10,000 adults and young people from Walnut Creek and beyond make art with us each year. At Center for Community Arts, you  can learn from experienced teaching artists -- and your fellow students -- in comfortable studios around the city.

You or your child can register for quarterly classes or one-day workshops in drawing, painting, and printmaking, ceramics, dance, music, photography and digital media, theater, glass, fiber arts and jewelry.  Build your skills from beginning to advanced classes. We even offer intensives in dance, music and theater. Preschools and camps give  youth from 2-14 the time and space to play, develop, and learn in the arts.

And we meet you where you are. We join with schools and community centers to bring arts to places where people gather.   To make sure we’ve got you covered, we team up with partners to offer financial aid for all our programs. Maybe you or a family member have special needs -- we work to make sure everyone is included.

You might also find yourself making art with us when you’ve got some free time. Attend one of our free artmaking events,  meet us at a street fair or festival, or relax at one of our student exhibits and performances.  You can also drop in for one of our quick open studios for adults and young people to get a taste of Community Arts.

No matter who you are, you belong at Center for Community Arts.
